I greatly appreciate your researching something that I should have included in the original post; I was much too involved in my own internal processing to realize that this cartoon is more obscure than some. I often note Aristotle's chauvinism, although of course I'm not the only one to note it: Nussbaum does a good job of covering this in Therapy of Desire. It mars his philosophy, and has indirectly left a black mark across western civilization. (The Stoics and the Epicureans were more accepting of women, at least in theory). But of course women can be virtuous friends: I'm still concerned that Lemony Snicket is right about virtuous people being early, or at least on time. Which would certainly rule me out. But that was already in question anyway.
Thanks for the clarification! I didn't mean to imply that you need to apologize for Aristotle's chauvinism when refering to him, though... I was just joking around about what I had read.
Given the explaination in the following post, however, I probably shouldn't have demanded that you see me as a virtuous friend, eh? ;)

I put some work into reading this cartoon, but I still think I'm missing something.
You better think I'm a virtuous friend for reading through that, though, even though I am a woman.
